THE Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) was established, through an Act, in 1991 for teaching, promoting and using Sindhi language. The SLA also adopted Sindhi as its official language, like other provincial departments whose official language was Sindhi. Regrettably, this position seems to be unacceptable to postal authorities.
When dispatches with addresses written in Sindhi are sent to different organisations and individuals concerned, these received back unserved, especially having addresses of Karachi. The SLA has already lodged a complaint with the Post Master-General, Northern Circle, Hyderabad, about the unfair treatment meted out to the SLA, apparently for using Sindhi language.
However, through these columns the SLA would also like to approach the authorities concerned to take necessary measures in this regard.
