32 schemes for cantt areas approved

RAWALPINDI, Nov 19: The director military lands and cantonments, Rawalpindi region, has approved 32 development projects costing about Rs56 million for the year 2002-2003, sources said.

The schemes would be executed during the current financial year. The mini-board of the cantonment has already approved these projects, which include water supply, drainage, roads and buildings.

The water pipelines in Tench Bhata and Allama Iqbal Colony would be replaced, filtration plants would be installed at Peshawar Road, Tench Bhatta and Dhoke Syedan, water supply network along Zahid Baig Shaheed Road, Zakaria Chowk, Hali Road, Chur Chowk would be repaired, water pipelines would be laid from Baraf Khana Chowk to Bakramandi Chowk, water supply network would be established in Sherzman Colony, Tulsa Road, lanes 4,5,6 and 7 in Westridge and main lines on Peshawar Road would be extended.

The drainage system would be set up on both sides of Misrial Road from Range Road to PIA Colony, drain would be reconstructed from banking court to main drain along Tulsa Road, drains and streets would be repaired in Hazara Colony and Dhoke Chaudhrian, retaining wall would be constructed from the main road to Allama Iqbal Colony, RCC sewerage pipeline would be laid in Racecourse, and from newly-developed plots to main drain near Peshawar Road and maintenance/ repair of main drain from police station road to Murree Road.

Similarly, Zafar Akbar Road and Mazhar Qayyum road will be repaired Kian Road from VIP route of Chaklala-3 and Road from Chaklala-II to Tipu Road will be recarpeted. The bridge at Sarwar Road will be widened.

The building schemes planned during the current year are reconstruction of boundary wall with drain and road culverts at water works near Al-Mustafa Trust Chaklala-3, construction of boundary wall of cantonment board model school at Tulsa Road, construction of compound wall around cantonment board land situated on Peshawar Road, some extension works in the cantonment board land branch, construction of lavatory in different places in cantonment areas and some extension works in cantonment montessory and junior school at Sabzazar.
