KARACHI, Nov 22: The main round of 15th Pakistan ITF seniors’ tennis championship commenced at the Karachi Club on Tuesday under the aegis of Pakistan Seniors Tennis Association.

Former Davis Cupper and national coach Rashid Malik, who has specially come from Lahore, is the main attraction of the event which concludes on Sunday.

The event is being held in 35 plus singles, 45 plus singles and doubles and 55 plus singles and doubles.

A formal opening marked the inauguration of the seniors’ event which is third of the year.

Results: 55 plus singles: First round: Col (retd) Aijaz bt Iqbal Qureshi (Sibbi) 6-1, 6-3.

35 plus singles: First round: Noman Farid bt Sohail Farid 7-6, 5-7, 7-6. 45 plus singles: First round: Qamaruddin Habib (Hyderabad) bt Noorullah Dhanani (Hyderabad) 6-1, 6-2; Mohammad Jawaid bt Iqbal Qureshi (Sibbi) 7-6, 4-6, 6-4. —Sports Correspondent
