SUKKUR, Nov 22: Members of the Ghausia Jamaat held a demonstration in Ghotki on Tuesday in protest against police for discouraging them from making arrangements for November 27 rally to be addressed by former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Syed Irshad Shah Jeelani, Abdul Shakoor Chachar, along with a large number of local leaders of the Ghousia Jamaat, told reporters that SHO Waris Gaddani of Ghotki police station reached at the venue of the rally earlier in the day and warned us against holding public meeting here.

They pledged to hold the public meeting at every cost adding that administration's bid to sabotage the meeting would be foiled by members of the Ghausia Jamaat.

Former district nazim of Sukkur Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also arrived at the venue and extended complete support to followers of the Jamaat. He said that every party had a right to hold public meetings. However, he said, that he would not attend the meeting because Shah Mehmood Qureshi had opposed him in the general elections. DEMO:

People belonging to different villages of Tauj union council held protest demonstrations in front of the Thull press club on Tuesday against alleged corrupt practices of the officials of Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO).

They said the Sindh Rural Support Organisation was entrusted the task of installation of 800 hand pumps in different villages of the UC. Only 200 such pumps were installed while SRSO officials misappropriated the amount sanctioned for purchase of 600 more hand pumps, they alleged.

They demanded of the concerned authorities to conduct an inquiry and ensure installation of remaining pumps.
