GUJRANWALA, Nov 18: Residents of Kotli Pir Ahmad Shah blocked the road in protest against a robbery reportedly committed by men in police uniform.

Three dacoits in uniform forced their entry into the house of Younas when he was leaving for a mosque to offer Fajr prayers. They held the family at gunpoint and collected cash and jewellery. Younas overpowered one of the dacoits and locked him in a room.

In the meantime, two of his accomplices reached there and told the family that they had come from the police station and asked them to hand over the accused to them. They disappeared along with their accomplice.

Later, residents of the area gathered on the GT Road and set tyres on fire. They also chanted slogans against the police. They dispersed peacefully when police high-ups reached there and assured them that culprits would be arrested soon.

SIALKOT: Seven dacoits in police uniform committed three dacoities in Shahbaz Town, Hajipura, Daska city, on Sunday night.

They stormed into the residence-cum-workshop of farm machinery manufacturer Latif Mughal and escaped with gold ornaments, cash and valuables worth Rs250,000.

They held his son ,Shahbaz, hostage and took him to his neighbour Sarwar’s house. They collected gold and valuables worth Rs150,000 from his house.

The dacoits then entered the house of Shabbir from where they collected valuables worth Rs100,000. They reportedly beat up Mahmood, Khalid, Shahid, Zahid and Khaliq on resistance.

The dacoits fled from the scene by firing shots in the air and threw their police uniforms near the shrine of Saeen Abdul Ghani.
