Urs of Sachal Sarmast begins

KHAIRPUR, Nov 18: The three-day annual Urs of Sufi poet Sachal Sarmast started at his shrine at Darza Sharif, Khairpur district, on Monday.

On Wednesday, Governor Sindh Mohammedmian Soomro will lay a traditional chadar on the shrine and will attend a traditional music programme.

Later, he will give away Sachal awards to Dr Bashir Ahmed Shad (best paper), Sarkish Sindhi (best poet), Barkat Ali Bhat (best singer), and Luqman Khokhar (best folk singer).

ACCIDENT: A woman, Noban Akhtar, 32, was killed under the wheels of a train engine at the Luqman Phatak on Sunday.

She was a resident of Sahiwal and had come to Khairpur to meet her estranged son, who later took her body to Sahiwal.

STRIKE OBSERVED: The residents of Kumb town observed a strike against the collapse of the sewerage system of the town.

Sewage has accumulated in the streets of Shahbaz Colony and other areas of the town as a result of which the people were facing a lot of difficulties.
