PESHAWAR, Nov 18: Two minor girls were killed and two other children and three women received injuries in a hand-grenade attack in Tajabad locality here on Sunday.

An Afghan refugee, Karim, son of Rahim, lodged an FIR with Pishtakhara police station, stating that the other day he had rebuked his neighbour over teasing his girls.

At 1pm on Sunday, an unknown person, whom Karim suspected to be the same neighbour, hurled a hand-grenade at his home, killing his 9-year-old daughter Saeeda on the spot.

His 3-year-old daughter Nida, two wives — Ziyarat Gula and Zarghona —, his relative Fehmida, wife of Jumma Khan and her (Fehmida’s) daughters, Anisa and Jamila, also received injures.

All the injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital, where Nida succumbed to her injures. Police have started investigation.

BURGLED: A house in Budhai locality of Chamkani was burgled by five unknown armed men at Sehri time on Sunday.

Arbab Arshad Mehmood, son of Arbab Dost Mohammad, told Chamkani police station that her wife got up at 4am for preparing Sehri for the family. When she opened the kitchen’s door, five burglars, who were there, made her hostage at gun-point and entered the bedrooms.

Arbab Arshad said that the burglars, after beating him, locked all the inmates in a bathroom, and decamped with a television, a CD player, a VCR, a satellite receiver, two speakers, 2.5 tola of gold and Rs10,000.
