SUKKUR, Nov 10: The seven accused, three brothers among them, who were nominated in the FIR of the murder of three Hindu doctors in Chak village of Shikarpur district on Monday, were produced by the police in an anti-terrorism court in Jacobabad on Thursday amid tight security.

Judge Abdul Rasheed Soomro remanded the accused – three brothers Ahsanullah, Naeemullah and Ubaidullah, Abdul Ghani, Abdul Rauf, Mohammad Aslam and Abdul Latif – in police custody for seven days. All accused belong to the Bhayo caste

Talking to media outside the court room, accused Ahsanullah said “we are not involved in the killing of Ajeet Kumar, Naresh Kumar and Ashok Kumar”.

He said the killings were a reaction to “sexual assault” on a girl of the Bhayo caste, alleging that the girl was still in the custody of the Hindu community.

He said police had arrested some women belonging to Bhayo community, terming it highhandedness.

Shikarpur police have also registered a case of possession of unlicensed arms against the seven accused.

PROTEST: Outrage against the gory incident continued across Sindh on Thursday.

In Mirpurkhas people observed a token hunger strike on the call of an NGO and held a demonstration outside the press club.

They called upon the government to ensure arrest of the culprits.

Human rights activists Kanji Rano Bheel, Ismail Bijani and Asghar Narejo said Hindus in Sindh were being forced to migrate to India. Such conspiracies were being hatched by religious fanatics in collusion with the establishment, they alleged.

They said Hindu traders were frequently kidnapped and released only after payment of ransom.

They also accused police of protecting the guilty. The speakers urged the government to order a high-level inquiry into the triple murder.

A procession was taken out by the Hindu Panchayat from Lal Mandir. It terminated at the press club. Led by president of the Hindu Panchayat, Seth Lachhman Das Parwani, the protesters marched on main roads.

In Nawabshah, members of Hindu Panchayat took out a procession from Lal building. The participants later demonstrated in front of the press club.
