Anwar’s gallant effort goes in vain

KARACHI, Nov 16: A gallant innings of 87 by Mohammad Anwar failed to prevent A.O. CC going down by 34 runs to Dewan Sugar Mills in the 8th Tapal Trophy Ramazan Cricket Festival at UBL Sports Complex here Saturday.

Despite Anwar’s brilliant 42-ball cameo, which included as many as nine sixes and three fours, A.O. CC were dismissed for 199 in 22.4 overs.

Anwar, who was declared Man-of-the-Match, and Iqbal Imam (31) put on 69 for the fourth wicket.

Pacer Mohammad Hasnain claimed three for 44 while Wusat Hussain chipped in with two for 34.

Earlier, half-centuries from Zeeshan Pervez and Fahadullah helped Dewan Sugar Mills to 233 for seven in their 25 overs.

Zeeshan struck four boundaries and a six in making 59 off 44 balls while Fahad hit four fours and a brace of sixes in his 51 off 29 deliveries. The pair were involved in a third-wicket partnership of 104.
