LARKANA, Nov 5: Partial strike was observed here on Saturday on the call of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz in protest against the arrest of its activists G.M. Abro, Anwar Depar and Noor Abro.

Police and Rangers kept on patrolling the city roads to prevent any untoward incident. Some workers of the JSQM forced shopkeepers to close their shops. Police arrested 20 activists of the party but released them later.

The three workers of the JSQM were arrested on October 29 from the house of G.M. Abro in Dari Mohalla of the city and since then, according to JSQM leaders, have been held incommunicado.

The arrest of G.M Abro, who is also the president of the Larkana taluka chapter of the Government Secondary Teachers Association, has triggered protest by secondary school teachers too, who have held demonstrations to press the government to release him.

The teachers held a meeting in Government Pilot Higher Secondary School on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, Sikandar Kalhoro, general secretary of the GSTA's Larkana taluka chapter and others said that G.M. Abro had been kept at an undisclosed place and demanded his release.
