ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: MNA-elect Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari has asked the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to set up four colleges to facilitate students of the capital’s rural areas.

According to a press release issued by the directorate, Mr Bokhari called on the FDE director-general, Brig Maqsoodul Hassan (retired), her on Friday.

He asked the directorate officials to establish a degree college at Bara Koh and introduce English medium at primary schools in the rural areas.

Mr Bokhari contended that the FDE should prefer local people for recruitments to be carried out by the directorate.

Earlier, Brig Maqsood briefed the MNA on educational institution in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). He said Islamabad was the only district in the country where around 396 educational institutions were being run with the help of Parents Teachers Associations (PTA).

He maintained that over a couple of years about 4,500 teachers had been trained through various training workshops which helped in bettering the educational standards.

The FDE director-general said the organization has also held science exhibitions for the school going children.

He said besides these steps, the FDE had distributed free books among class I students; provided scientific equipments to secondary level schools and set up computer laboratories in as many as 25 of its institutions.
