Journalist dies

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: Senior journalist Ikramul Haq has died of heart attack in Saudi Arabia where he had gone to perform Haj. He was 84.

According to family sources, Mr Haq died on Tuesday in Madina and was buried in Jannatul Baqi.

He leaves behind two sons and a daughter to mourn his death.

He was father of prominent journalist Tahir Ikram and father-in-law of Shahid Malik of the BBC.

Mr Haq was born in 1927 in Delhi where his father was a government servant. He did his MA (previous) from Delhi University and MA (final) from Karachi University.

His career in journalism started from Dawn in 1948. He spent most of his professional career with Pakistan Times which he joined in 1953. In mid-1980s he joined Business Recorder where he worked till 2008.—Staff Reporter
