Speaking at a Darbar here on Thursday, the chairman said there was a heavy responsibility on the NHA with regard to the construction of national highways. “We should pay due attention to our responsibilities,” he said adding the government attached priority to the road building and heavy amounts were needed for the construction and maintenance of highways.

“To make exact use of the national exchequer, we should take all the decisions on merit.” He asked the officers to keep constant contact with the contractors and consultants so that the projects could not be delayed.

The chairman called for seeking knowledge in the fields concerned so that revolutionary changes could be brought in the country. He urged the officials to create harmony for the sake of a positive working atmosphere.

He also heard the problems of the staff and ordered for their early solution.

Earlier, the NHA’s executive board met under at the head office of the authority on Wednesday.

The board discussed M-I Project in details and approved contract of remaining work of Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-I) to M/s PMC JV and directed the authority to take necessary action in this regard. It may be recalled that M/s PMC JV offered lowest bids Rs.11.87 billion for construction of M-I during tender opening last month.
