KARACHI, Oct 21: The 10th National Bank Subh-e-Nau Ladies & Juniors Tennis Championship will be played from 27th of this month at the CDGK Sports Complex tennis courts.

Shahida Kausar Farooq,  chairperson of the Subh-e-Nau, said in a statement on Friday that her organisation is going to revive a symbolic tennis heritage of Pakistan by holding this championship at the state-of-the-art Tennis Stadium.

She said that Pakistan has only one world-class tennis stadium which was in doldrums for the last few decades. However, she said that Subh-e-Nau has renovated this place and is going to hold the first national exclusive ladies & juniors tournament after more than 30 years.

She thanked the National Bank of Pakistan for sponsoring such a symbolic event and said this will encourage players with better prize money and a nurturing environment.

Giving out the details of the event, Shahida Farooq said that the competing players could participate in ladies singles, ladies doubles, girls U-18, boys U-18, boys U-14 and boys U-11 categories.

The prizemoney for this tournament is Rs300,000 and will be disbursed in accordance with International Tennis Federation (ITF) rules. Finals of this tournament will be played on Sunday Oct 30. —Agencies
