RAWALPINDI: With the start of Rabi season, the Punjab agricultural department has announced to offer cost-free wheat seed grading facility to farmers throughout the province.

A spokesman for the department said here on Monday that 341 'seed graders' have been provided in the province for offering wheat seed grading facility to growers during current Rabi season. Forty-four seed graders will be available in barani areas of Rawalpindi Division.

Wheat growers have been advised to contact the local agriculture officer (Extension) for availing the facility.

The experts further advised that farmers must go for seed treatment with recommended fungicides 7 to 10 days before sowing to prevent rust, smut and Kernal Bunt diseases which cause huge loss to wheat production.
