HYDERABAD, Oct 16: Rain-affected people and civil society activists of Mirpurkhas, who started a march on Oct 14 to Hyderabad in protest against alleged corrupt practices of the district administration in distribution of relief goods, reached the Detha stop on Sunday.

They were given a warm welcome at Tando Allahyar, Keeria Shakh, Qubbo stop and Khesana Mori.

Talking to Dawn on telephone, one of the leaders of the march, Asghar Narejo of the Council for All Under Privileged Segments Empowerment, accused the administration officers of having presented a misleading picture of losses caused by rains and flood during a briefing to the president and prime minister of Pakistan, Sindh chief minister and chief secretary.

He demanded an inquiry against district officers.

WOMEN’S WELFARE: The Aurat Foundation organised a programme at the HRCP office here on Sunday on “Women’s share in livelihood and governance”.

The main objective of the programme is to apprise women about welfare launched by the government, with focus on Benazir Income Support Programme.

Deputy Director of BISP, Abdul Majeed Soomro, explained various aspects of the programme.
