ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the PM House on Friday and briefed him on upcoming important international events such as Commonwealth Conference in Perth, Australia, this month and the SAARC Summit in the Maldives next month.

The Prime Minister directed the Foreign Minister to concentrate on further improving relations between Pakistan and the countries of the region based on mutual respect and equality.

As far as the relations of Pakistan with the countries of the region were concerned, the Foreign Minister sounded upbeat and added that her optimism was based on the shared realization among the countries to improve relations

The Foreign Minister also apprised the Prime Minister of the Foreign Office's endeavors to seek support for Pakistan's candidature to contest the non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council.
