LAHORE, Nov 12: The PML-Q and the MMA are poised to form a government with Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali as prime minister, says a PML-Q leader.

Answering reporters’ questions at an Iftar on Tuesday, the MNA-elect from Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, said his party was of the view that in the presence of a president armed with powers under Article 58(2-B), there was no need for a National Security Council.

In reply to a question, he said the country needed a constitutional president, who enjoyed backing of the assembly as well as the nation.

Asked whether Gen Musharraf was required to seek a vote of confidence, he said the matter would be decided on the “give-and-take” principle.

The situation required that the military rulers and political parties to be flexible in their stands, he emphasized.
