KOHAT, Oct 1: An eighth grade boy student shot and injured a sixth grade girl student in a private school at Defence Colony here on Saturday when she resisted his immoral advances, police said.

The Cantt police, who recorded the statement of the victim, said that the boy, resident of Garhi Risaldar, forcibly locked the door during the break when the girl was inside the classroom. They said that the boy tried to assault her and on resistance pulled out a pistol and shot her in the leg.

The injured girl was taken to the KDA hospital.

The Cantt police arrested the accused while he was trying to escape from the school after committing the crime. The police also recovered a 30-bore pistol from his possession.

The police registered a case against the student and started investigation.

The incident had raised serious questions about the security of schools where a student could enter with a pistol without any checking and then harass a girl of a junior class.

Meanwhile, a second year student of PAF College was injured when a stray bullet hit him while he was leaving the college on Saturday. The student identified as Sheharyar was taken to Liaquat Memorial Hospital where doctors discharged him after providing him first aid.
