LAHORE, Sept 29: A 30-year-old security guard was killed and his colleague injured by three men over a money dispute in Park View Housing Society on Multan Road early on Thursday.

Chuhng police said Shani, Ram Lakhan and Sikandar came to Asif Ibrar of Township, who was on duty, and engaged in a squabble. Later, Shani and his accomplices shot dead Asif and injured his fellow guard Qamar Zia when he came to his rescue. The injured was admitted to Jinnah Hospital.

Chuhng Investigation in charge Munir Ahmad said the police were conducting raids to arrest the suspects who belonged to Sanda.

He said a case had been registered against the suspects on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Iqbal Khan Lodhi.

DIES: A middle-aged man died of heart attack and two others were injured in a firing incident near 60-Foot Road in Juggian Nagra on Thursday.

Iqbal Town SP (Operations) Muntazir Mehdi said that Rana Faheem opened fire on Moazzam Shah after exchanging harsh words over the occupation of a three-and-a-half marla house.

He said the firing left Moazzam and passerby Ahsan Sohail injured, adding that Moazzam’s fellow Lala Akram apparently died of heart attack because of firing. The injured were admitted to a hospital.

The SP said the investigation revealed that a woman, Lubna, received token money from two parties for selling her house. She first received money from Faheem and then from Moazzam.

He said Moazzam along with Akram reached the house with his luggage to take possession of the house and later Rana Faheem and his two accomplices also reached there.

SUICIDE: A mother of four took her life by swallowing poisonous pills over some domestic issue in Al-Faisal Town on Thursday.

The North Cantonment police said Shakeela was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a hotel on McLeod Road on Thursday, gutting valuables worth Rs200,000.

Rescue 1122 personnel said the fire erupted in a portion of Victoria Hotel due to short-circuiting.

Fire-fighters battled the blaze for about 30 minutes before it was put out.

arrested: Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) claimed on Thursday to have arrested three smugglers and seized from them narcotics, cell phones, illegal weapons and a motorcycle.

According to a spokesman, Rangers after receiving information cardoned off the border area of Head Sulemanki and managed to capture three suspects riding a motorbike. They have been identified as Muhammad Ashraf of Sadd village (Kasur), Ahmad Ali of Mancahanabad (Bahawalnagar) and Muhammad Afzal of Aminpura (Kasur). Officials seized from the suspects 8-kg heroin, 200 gram opium, three cell phones, two SIMs, 25 pistols and their motorcycle.

Further investigation is under way.
