LAHORE, Sept 29: The focus of chief minister’s school reforms programme has been on ensuring 100 per cent enrolment and retention of students, especially girls.

Improvement in quality of education by addressing governance issues at the primary school level has been the other priority of the programme. The targets will be achieved through effective monitoring and evaluation system and by giving every district a roadmap of its own.

This was a consensus among participants in a seminar on ‘Strategic directions in education’, arranged jointly by the Punjab government and the Oxfam Pakistan at a local hotel on Thursday.

The participants included Chief Minister’s Adviser Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, CM’s Task Force for Teacher Training chairperson and MNA Saira Afzal Tarar, Planning and Development Board member Amin Mahmood, Sohail Raza of Programme Management and Implementation Unit (PMIU) besides Oxfam Pakistan team led by Noreen Khalid and Idara-i-Taleem-o-Agahi team led by Dr Baela Raza Jamil.

They also discussed ways and means to align Oxfam Education Strategy with CM’s School Reforms Road Map for optimum results for access, quality, gender equality and governance in education.
