ISLAMABAD, Nov 11: The National Athletics Championship is to be staged in Lahore from Jan 22 to Jan 25 under the auspices of Wapda.

The decision was taken at the executive committee meeting of the Pakistan Amateur Athletic Federation (PAAF) held the other day.

The meeting, chaired by PAAF president Maj Gen Safdar Hussain decided that the championship would serve as the basis for trials and preparations for next March’s SAF Games in Islamabad.

The house also decided to move the national training camps currently under way in Lahore to Islamabad after the championship.

Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar was retained as the Senior Vice President of the federation while Brig Arif Siddiqui was inducted as vice president.

Meanwhile, PAAF is said to have set qualifying standards for athletes going abroad for participation in major events. Although the qualification ratings were not known, only athletes making that mark would be sent for international meets.
