I adore YW

I am an old reader of Young World and I believe that it is one of the best magazines for kids. Every Saturday my brother and I wait impatiently for Young World to arrive. The new K&N’s story section is really awesome as it guides us about good moral values.

On the other hand, the jokes which are compiled by The Surfer are useless and it would be better if a new interesting section is started in its place. Keep up the good work!

Increasing ads!

For many of us Young World is a magazine that kick starts our weekend. It has been waking me up in the morning with a hot cup of tea for many years now and I have always loved reading it.

I wait the whole week to read interesting as well as informative stuff all in one place — Young World. I would like to keep on getting benefit from reading it but unfortunately I am noticing that week by week a large area of the magazine is being occupied by various advertisements, particularly the August 27, 2011, edition had a whole page of toothpaste ad, whereas the jokes were wedged near the boundaries as if they were an additional part of the magazine instead of being a regular feature. So I would like to request that as Young World is well-appreciated for what it has been serving us for years and not for the advertisements, kindly take notice of this and make use of every page to its fullest to provide your faithful readers with stuff that can be enjoyed the whole week.

Facebook addiction

This is with reference to the letter Facebook addiction by Helen Mraz (YW, August 27, 2011). I totally agree with the writer’s point of view that this addiction has been affecting our daily lives. Remaining stuck to the computer for hours also affects the eyesight and its usage till late night causes sleep disorders, fatigue and headache.

Besides, accepting friend’s requests from everyone is risky because it can cause security threats. So please limit your time on Facebook and be very careful while making online connections.

Life as a refrigerator

This is with reference to the story Life as a refrigerator by Saba Farhan (YW, August 20, 2011). I totally agree with the writer that people overload refrigerators and also put hot food such as curries, etc., in them which causes damage to this machine.

Furthermore, most kids are too rough when handling refrigerators, and this can damage its parts. People should behave responsibly and should not misuse this useful invention. Besides, mistreatment of it will cause your parents financial loss and trouble, so take great care while using a refrigerator.

Health in jeopardy

We all know that health is wealth. But in our country it would be more accurate to say: “wealth is health”. Well, that is the motto of most of the shopkeepers. According to a report, 90 per cent food items contain adulterants.

As a citizen I have the right to have fresh food but who cares? Chocolate, kids’ favourite, is also not free from textile dyes. We don’t even get fresh vegetables to eat which is very important for our health.

We, the kids, the future leaders of Pakistan, are hugely affected by food adulteration and therefore, I think the government should take strong measures to curb food adulteration if they don’t want the next generation to be a burden on the country!
