JAFFER Fadoo Dispensary is a beautiful historical building. I fully endorse what Muhammad Ali said in his letter (Sept 17) about the restoration of the old structure of this building with its clock tower.

As a child I have fond memories attached with this building when in the early 1950s I lived there with my parents and three siblings.

My father, Dr M. Ikram, was serving with the KMC and was a medical officer of this dispensary.

In those days the dispensary was on the ground floor and the doctor’s residence on the first floor.

I would also request the authorities concerned to take immediate action to save this national heritage of great importance. Jaffer Fadoo was indeed a great humanitarian.

I salute him for laying a fine example and for his philanthropic work which benefited the downtrodden people of Karachi, in general, and of Kharadar and Lyari, in particular.
