TIMERGARA, Sept 17: Twenty five suspects were taken into custody in connection with Thursday’s suicide bombing at a funeral in Beero village of Samar Bagh tehsil in Lower Dir, said District Police Officer Saleem Marwat here on Saturday.

Talking to journalists, he said that number of security checkposts and police patrolling teams were increased to protect the lives and properties of people.

When asked about the threat by Swat Taliban to carry out more such attacks, he said that police and security forces were fully prepared to fight against terrorists from anywhere. “We are also taking people of peace committees into confidence so that such strikes can be avoided in future,” he said. About the arrest of suspects, he said they were being interrogated. Any development in that regard would be shared with media on proper time, the DPO added.

Meanwhile, District Coordina-tion Officer Mahmood Aslam Wazir told journalists that according to the decision of provincial government the families of victims of Thursday’s blast would be compensated in a short span of time.

He said that the heirs of the dead would receive Rs300,000 and the injured Rs100,000 each. “We are making arrangements for the payment,” he said, adding that injured were provided free treatment at government hospitals in the district.
