FAISALABAD, Sept 17: The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) members on Saturday unanimously elected Rana Arif Tauseef as chairman and Shahzad Siddique vice chairman of PTEA for 2011-12.

Twelve members of the executive committee have already been selected for two years.

Tauseef is brother of minister of state for privatisation Asif Tauseef and Faisalabad former district nazim Zahid Tauseef.

Earlier, Arif Tauseef had served as PTEA chairman for year 2005-06.

Talking to the association members, the newly-elected office-bearers said the textile industry was facing numerous challenges, particularly high utilities cost, trade deficit and additional levies.

The law and order situation emerging from war against terror and other impediments were directly affecting the cost of doing business, which hampered exports.

They urged members to come forward and make recommendations to the government for arresting the economic recession and addressing the issues being faced by the textile industry.—Staff Correspondent
