Drug addict kills brother

ATTOCK, Sept 10:  A drug addict beheaded his brother who had scolded him for his addiction.

Police said Akhtar, resident of Ragi village, said his brother Altaf was a drug addict and his other brother Akram used to scold him for it. A day back, both brothers exchanged hard words after which Altaf attacked Akram and beheaded him. The police registered a murder case against the alleged killer.

Meanwhile, a 7th class student, Roman Ali, shot himself  due to the strict behaviour of his parents in Pind Fazal Khan.— Correspondent

Mother, son die on road

CHAKWAL, Sept 10: A woman and her son were killed while four others injured in a road accident, police said.

Mohammad Akram was going home with his family on his Suzuki van. When he reached near Harar Chowk at Chakwal-Mandra Road, a trailer coming from the opposite direction hit his vehicle, killing Akram on the spot. His mother Aziza Begum, Malik Bano, her daughter Rizwana Firdaus sustained injuries. Aziza Begum was being taken to Rawalpindi due to her serious condition but died on the way.

Dhudial Police arrested the driver of the trailer, Mohammad Imran, a resident of Mianwali. The police also impounded the trailer. —Correspondent

Briefing on 18th Amendment

ISLAMABAD, Sept 10: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Raza Rabbani will brief members of the Pakistan Society, UK, on the 18th and 19th Constitutional amendments in the Great Hall of Lincoln’s Inn, London, on September 27.

The Pakistan Society, UK, invited Senator Raza Rabbani at the 60th anniversary dinner of the society. He will be the guest of honour along with UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Willian Hague on the occasion, says a handout here on Saturday.

The Pakistan Society is a leading body in the UK. It is promoting knowledge and understanding about Pakistan. President Asif Ali Zardari and the Duke of Edinburgh are the patrons of the society.— Staff Reporter
