KARACHI, Sept 10: Police on Saturday found the body of a fisherman in a gunny bag at a garbage dump near the Lyari area.

They said the body bore multiple bullet wounds and signs of torture.

The gunny-bagged body was found near the ICI bridge neighbouring Lyari. It was later shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

The victim was identified by family members in the CHK.

“The victim was identified as 30-year-old Nazeem aka Juma,” said an official at the Baghdadi police station.

“He was a resident of Saifee Line in the Lyari area and a fisherman by profession. We believe that he was kidnapped before being tortured and killed.”

In the SITE area, a young industrial worker was shot dead while returning home from work.

Though the area police blamed personal enmity on the killing, they could not trace anyone behind it.

“The 25-year-old Usman Bakht Zada was employed with a hosiery industrial unit in the SITE area,” said an official at the SITE-A police station.

“He was returning home in Frontier Colony No 6 when someone attacked him. The attackers ran away but initial information gathered from the victim’s family suggested that they had personal enmity.”

Another young man was gunned down in Model Colony by armed riders.

The area police said Mukhtar Mafrani was attacked by pillion-riders in the Lasi Para area of Model Colony.

“The victim sustained a single bullet wound and died on the spot. He was a resident of the same area,” said an official at the Model Colony police station.
