PESHAWAR, Nov 8: The NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has stressed the importance of career-oriented education saying that the introduction of new subjects and the internationally-recognized patterns should also be encouraged.

Presiding over a meeting of the Board of Governors of Edwards College Peshawar on Friday morning, the governor said that autonomous institutions like Edwards College have contributed a lot in the promotion of education in the province, and they must continue to maintain their glorious traditions in academics as well as extracurricular activities.

To achieve this target, he added, such institutions should be financially self-sufficient; the creation of a Trust is a good thing.

The meeting, besides others, was attended by the provincial minister for education, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, secretary education Tariq Jamil, secretary finance Zia-ur-Rehman, vice chancellor of Peshawar University Syed Zulfiqar Gilani and others.
