KOHAT, Sept 5: Provincial Housing Minister Amjid Khan Afridi inaugurated work on Rs60.5 million project of supply of gas to his hometown Babri Banda and Razgeer Banda here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the gas supply schemes for Sor Gul, Khamato, Ghorazai, Bhora Garhi, Godi Banda and Bazidkhel had also been approved.

Besides, eleven irrigation projects had also been sanctioned from the fund of Senator Abbas Afridi for these areas, which would bring prosperity in the barren villages, he said.

The minister also inaugurated government high school Lateefabad, completed at a cost of Rs60 million. Besides, he announced a project for supply of electricity for Dhok Gulab Din village.

KOTAL PLAZA: District Coordination Officer Shahidullah Khan on Monday asked the tehsil municipal officers to speed up work on the construction of Kotal plaza and shops for generating additional income for the district.

The District Coordination Officer visited the construction site of the plaza along with tehsil municipal officer Mohammad Shoaib, district revenue officer Arshad Naveed and other officials.

Briefing the DCO on Monday, the TMO said that they had planned to demolish few shops to provide a short route to the plaza for the convenience of people. The offcials later inspected the vegetable market.

The District Coordination Officer directed the TMO to remove the illegal shops constructed between the city police station and city post office, which was causing problems to the pedestrians.

KILLED: A six-year-old girl drowned in Keri Saam dam in Shakardarra town of Kohat district on Monday.

The body of the girl was fished out of the dam by local divers after several hours of struggle. The name of the victim could not be ascertained.

In another incident, unknown armed men killed a resident of Orakzai Agency, Arbab Khan, outside his house in Noor Elahi Colony in the jurisdiction of Riaz Shaheed police station. The police have registered the case.
