KARACHI, Sept 5: Three suspects said to be associated with a banned militant outfit have been remanded in prison by a magistrate in three cases till Sept 10.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) had arrested Zeeshan Siddiqui alias Shan, Mohammad Tariq alias Mamu and Mohammad Aslam alias Danish in Korangi Industrial Area after an encounter and seized illicit weapons and explosive material found in their possession on Aug 27. The CID police said the suspects were associated with the banned Tehrik-i-Islami Lashkar Mohammadi (Taliban).

When the CID police produced the suspects before a judicial magistrate (east) on Monday, the court sent them in jail custody on judicial remand and directed the investigation officer to submit a charge-sheet on the next hearing.

Three cases were registered against the suspects under Sections 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempt to commit premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, 13-D of the Arms Ordinance and 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the CID police station.

Another TTP suspect remanded

A judicial magistrate (west) on Monday remanded another suspected militant in jail custody till Sept 12 for allegedly keeping explosive material and illicit weapons and ordered the IO to submit a charge-sheet against him.

The CID police claimed to have arrested Akhtar Ayub alias Khan within the remit of the SITE-A police station on Aug 29 and stated that he was associated with the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.

The CID police claimed to have recovered a reasonable quantity of explosives and illicit weapons from his possession and said the suspect was wanted in a number of cases in Swat.

He was booked under Sections 13-D of the Arms Ordinance and 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act.
