TIMERGARA, Sept 5: A man was killed when gun of a solider went off accidentally at Kitiari checkpost here on Monday, police claimed.

The victim identified as Fazl Rahman, a resident of Tiknai village, was travelling in a passenger coach on Gulabad-Asbanr Road where security men were checking vehicles.

He got injured when the gun of a soldier on duty went off accidentally, police said, adding he was rushed to a local hospital but he succumbed to injuries.

Officials termed it an accident, however, locals alleged that it was a deliberate act of the soldier.

An official of Ouch police station told Dawn that the SHO along with the investigation in-charge visited the scene of occurrence. However, no case was registered till filing of this report.

In another incident, a taxi driver identified as Umar Gul was killed by unidentified armed persons at Munda on Monday. The accused managed to escape after committing the crime.

Motive behind the crime could not be ascertained, however, Munda police registered a case against unidentified accused and started investigation.

THEFT: Unidentified persons stole wires from electricity poles at Kabal and Tor Gat areas on Sunday night in the limits of Ouch police station.

The residents of the area said that thieves took advantage of the power outage at night and stole the wires, leaving their villages in the dark.

The security forces raided the houses of some Wapda employees at Kotigram after residents of To Gat approached them to trace the thieves but nothing was recovered from the houses.

ROAD: The residents of Reedgay village in the restive Maidan tehsil succeeded to build a link road in the area after hectic efforts of several years.

The villagers on Monday invited local journalists for inauguration of the road. The elders of the village inaugurated the three-kilometre road.

On the occasion Jamshed Khan, Naeem Khan and Gul Zaman demanded of the government and local lawmakers to approve blacktopping of the road.

They said that earlier people were not ready to allow them to pass the road through their lands but after jirgas they agreed to allot lands free of cost for the purpose. They said that more than 1,200 people would be benefited for the road.
