PESHAWAR, Sept 3: Five people were killed in different incidents in parts of Peshawar on Saturday, police said.

A rickshaw driver, Sher Bacha, was shot dead by unknown attackers outside his residence at Mathra. His uncle, Said Ghulam, who is Afghan national and complainant in the case, told police his nephew was shot dead while returning home at night. "I was at home when I heard gunshots and as rushed to the scene my nephew was lying in a pool of blood alongside his auto-rickshaw," the complainant stated. He said his family had no enmity with anyone and thus did not nominate anybody in the FIR. A murder case was registered at the Mathra police station.

In the second incident, Umer Shah, a driver, of Lateefabad, was shot dead by unidentified persons while on way home. His father, Said Umer, told Faqirabad police that unknown attackers shot his son dead. He did not nominate the accused in the case, saying he had no enmity with anyone.

In another case, a 12-year-old boy, Rameez, son of Mohammad Rafiq, was run over by a pick-up (A-8323) at Yakatoot. An official of the Yakatoot police said the pick-up's driver Dr Shah Noor of Hangu had been arrested and his vehicle impounded. He said the boy was riding a motorcycle.

Another unidentified man was also knocked down by a vehicle on the main Jamrud road in limits of Town police. An official, quoting eyewitnesses, said the man was crossing the road when he was hit by an over-speeding mini-truck (Shehzor). He said the body had been shifted to local morgue and efforts were being made to locate his relatives.
