LARKANA, Sept 3: Secretary General of the Sindh chapter of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Senator Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, has urged the government to remove federal minister for interior Rehman Malik in the light of revelations made by Dr Zulfikar Mirza.

At a press conference at Madressah Ishatul Quran here on Saturday, he said disclosures by Dr Mirza were correct.

He said Mirza was liked by all till he kept quiet, but lost his position in the party as soon as he came out with truth.

Dr Soomro requested the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the statement of Dr Mirza as people, according to him, had lost faith in the president and the prime minister.

He said more than 1000 innocent people had died in Karachi during Ramazan and rejected the official figure of 200.

He held PPP, MQM and ANP responsible for these murders. The main reason behind the bloodbath, he added, was the race for money, extortion and landgrabbing where poor and innocent people were being made scapegoat.

The JUI-F leader asked the MQM leadership to disprove allegations hurled on it by Dr Mirza.

Senator Soomro advised Dr Mirza to raise his voice against President Asif Zardari as he was responsible for the mess the nation found itself in today. He said the manner of distribution of donations flowing in from abroad raised suspicions.

Had these donations been rightly distributed among flood victims, Sindh would not have faced such a devastation during current wet spell, he added.

He said people were feeling the pinch of poverty, unemployment, loadshedding, starvation while the rulers were least concerned about their sufferings.

Dr Soomro criticised the municipal authorities and the managers of North Sindh Urban Corporation Services who had failed to keep the city clean.

Maulana Nasir Mehmood Soomro and Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro were also present on the occasion.
