Taxation treaty with Jordan likely

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: Pakistan is likely to sign an agreement with Jordan for avoidance of double taxation between the two countries.

An official source in the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) told Dawn on Thursday that a three-member tax delegation, led by Member Direct Taxes Vakil Ahmed Khan, has left for Amman to negotiate the agreement.

The need for having a double taxation treaty with the Jordan was felt seriously following the demands of the businessmen of two countries that both countries should clarify the tax rules to define the cross-border businesses transactions.

Pakistan trade with Jordan was not sufficient but there still existed considerable potential for expansion and reciprocal investment, said the official.
