KARACHI: Upon the guidelines of the president and prime minister the intelligence agencies have briefed the government about steps that are to be taken to bring about peace in Karachi.

Sources have told DawnNews that Army Chief General Kayani, during his trip to Karachi, met with Corp Commander Karachi, DG Rangers and the provincial heads of army intelligence. Two important agency reports regarding criminal activities and terrorists was shared with Rangers as well as the IB.

Upon information from the intelligence report, Rangers have begun operations in areas of Karachi where there is unrest. In the report eleven areas have been highlighted where operations will take place.

Sources have said that during the operation there will be no interference by the provincial government. The inclusion of police will also be a prerogative of the rangers.
