SIALKOT: Chairman Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Syed Mukhtar Hussain has urged the federal government to announce an Open Sky Policy for Sialkot International Airport as announced for Gwadar Airport by government earlier.

Addressing an important meeting of the SIAL management, he said that the establishment of Sialkot International Airport by Sialkot business community on self help basis is a marvelous achievement of Sialkot business community as this airport would be helpful in changing the economic fate of this region.

Talking to the press, General Manger SIAL Muhammad Nawaz Chaudhary said that Sialkot International Airport was proving itself as a milestone towards the stability of the national economy, besides, bringing up the graph of exports.

He said that airport would open new avenues of economical development in Pakistans first ever “ Golden Export Triangle” comprising Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala districts, besides, booming up the industrial sector in the area, doubling the exports from Sialkot city from US $ 1.25 billion annually, thus catering the needs of entire Gujranwala division.

He said that Sialkot airport would open new vistas of economic development in the country and bring a boom in the industrial sector. SIAL’s GM said that the Sialkot business community has written a unique golden history of self help by completing this mega project, advising others to replicate it.

Nawaz said that the industrialists and exporters of Sialkot had set a unique precedent for others in the country to follow by successfully launching a mega project on self-help basis.

Now the dream of Sialkot business community has now become true, as the airport has already started the regular cargo flights and other domestic and international passenger flights he added.
