Film actress Meera must be cock-a-hoop. Who would’ve thought that she one day would be the recipient of a state-conferred honour. Apart from her, annual civil awards for quite a few artistes were announced by President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on Aug 14. The awards will be given to them on March 23. The artistes and known showbiz personalities whose names were announced are: Aslam Azhar (it was overdue, since the man has served Pakistan Television and theatre for a long, long time), Agha Nasir, Mehdi Hasan (again, long overdue for the legendary singer), Sahira Kazmi, Noman Ejaz, Mohsin Gilani, Saba Hameed, Javaid Shaikh, Meera, Sohail Asghar, Sakeena Sammon and Kazim Pasha.

The recipients of the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz are Ghulam Abbas Guldervi, Mansoor Ali Malangi, Nafees Ahmed Khan, Akhtar Shafi, Sabir Husain, Feroz Gul and Syed Ameer Imam.
