Four killed in house collapse

MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 17: A couple and their two children were killed as their house collapsed due to heavy rains in Mirpur during the last two days.

The mud house in a slum area of F-2 sector of the lakeside city collapsed before Sehri due to heavy rains. The four inmates were killed, a police official said.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Siddique, his wife Sughra, four-year-old daughter Muqaddas and one-and-a-half year-old son Naveed. — Staff Correspondent

Hazrat Ali martyrdom

RAWALPINDI, Aug 17: Civic and rescue agencies have completed all arrangements to observe the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA) from tomorrow to August 24.

Processions would be taken out in different areas of Rawalpindi city and clerics would deliver speeches in mosques on the sacrifices given by the fourth caliph.

Rescue 1122 will remain on high alert during the observance of the martyrdom and has finalised arrangements for tackling any emergency situation. — Our Reporter

Man shot dead

GUJAR KHAN, Aug 17: A young man was shot dead by unknown killers and his body was thrown in the nearby jungle in the jurisdiction of Gujar Khan police station on Wednesday.

Muhammad Zameer, resident of Matial village reported to the police that his brother Raja Muhammad Shabir on Wednesday morning left the house after receiving a call on his cell phone. He said that he was informed later that the body of Muhammad Shabir was lying in the jungle near Jand Mehlu area. The police registered the case and started investigations. — Correspondent

Boy drowns

CHAKWAL, Aug 17: A teenager drowned while taking bath in a dam, police said on Wednesday.

Mohammad Sufian, 13, a resident of Jhatla village in tehsil Talagang went to take bath at a dam along with other friends.

He slipped into deep waters and drowned. The villagers took his body out of water after a struggle of three hours. — Correspondent
