ABBOTTABAD, Nov 5: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that the government is formulating a policy to ensure the provision of better health facilities to the people at their door steps.

Speaking at the 4th annual convocation of the Ayub Medical College on Tuesday he said that doctors would be encouraged to run clinics in the rural areas and would be provided advisory service and financial support.

Mr Shah said that the provincial government had successfully regularized the private practice of the doctors.

The governor urged the medics to work with dedication and devotion to serve the humanity.

He admitted that owing to the limited resources the government could not provide jobs to all the doctors, but assured them that it would provide financial and moral support to help them establish clinics in the rural areas.

Earlier, the principal of the AMC, Dr Aftab, presented the annual report of the college and told the audience that more than 2,000 medics had graduated from the institution. Besides, the college was also affiliated with the Royal College of UK, he added.

He pointed out that the World Health Organization had also enlisted the AMC for the Community Oriented Medical Education (COME) and had successfully organized a teaching programme.
