THIS is apropos of the news item ‘Swollen river uproots power pylons in Chitral’ (Aug 1).

Since this year power breakdown has caused much misery in the life of Chitrali people. The situation is getting worse day by day. There are no checks and balances in the renovation of electric poles and other wares related to electricity.

Electricity infrastructure will also be damaged by rains in days to come. There are so many things in the notice of Wapda to be cured but it has failed to do anything until now.

The case of Juti Lasht is not new and has been in the notice of Wapda authorities but they never take action to control this situation.

Electricity poles situated near the river course get damaged by floods.

It is time for authorities to control such a deteriorating situation so that the people of Chitral, who are already suffering from breakdowns in electricity, can be saved.
