KHAIRPUR, Nov 3: The government will spend a grant of Rs170 million on education, health and construction of roads in the backward areas of the district.

This was stated by the Khairpur district Nazim, Syeda Nafeesa Shah, while talking to participants at an open Kutchehry held in Mirwah taluka.

She said that Khairpur had been declared a model district and 35 school buildings have been constructed at a cost of Rs7 million under the “shelterless school scheme.”

The projects, she said, had been completed through the concerned Nazims.

She said other development works would also be completed through the Citizen Community Board instead of the contractor.

The district Nazim said that this would not only curtail expenses but would also improve the quality of work.

She said that the district government would pay special attention towards the education sector, particularly primary education, adding that the local government was introducing co- education system besides bringing changes to the syllabus as well as introducing the Oxford text syllabus.

In this regard, she added, contracts have already been signed with the Oxford authorities, which would help improve the quality of education in the district.
