QUETTA, Aug 3: US Ambassador Cameron Munter has said that despite differences Pakistan and the United States enjoy good relations.

He stated this during his visit to an SoS village here, which provides shelter and education to orphaned children.

Mr Munter, who arrived in Balochistan for a two-day visit along with US Consul General William Martin and other diplomats, lauded the efforts of the officials of SoS village and announced a $100,000 donation for the organisation to build two houses.

He said the US government would continue to cooperate with the village for the welfare of the children living there.

About the relations with Pakistan, he said: “I am confident that Pak-US ties would become stronger with the passage of time as we have a long history of cooperation,” he said.

Mr Munter said the US government was extending help in education, health and other sectors as it was aware of difficulties being faced by the people of Balochistan.

Former Senator and chairperson of the SoS village, Khurshid Roshan Barocha, briefed the US ambassador about the SoS village plan and said that maximum facilities were being provided to the orphans sheltered in the village.

The US ambassador on the occasion visited different sections of the village and played cricket with children.

Later in the evening, Mr Munter hosted an Iftar dinner at a local hotel.
