SHIKARPUR, Nov 3: A rally was staged by the people of Lakhi taluka here on Saturday against retrenchment of some workers by an oil and gas exploration company.

The protesters demanded reinstatement of the sacked workers and called for recruitment of more local people in the company.

MEETING: A meeting of the Shikarpur district council was held here on Saturday to review development schemes.

The meeting decided to constitute coordination committees to give proposals on development work and discussed prevailing sanitary conditions in the district.

The meeting urged the district Nazim and the DCO to pay special attention to cleanliness and improvement of the drainage system.
