PESHAWAR, July 22: Police on Friday arrested two women for killing their husband in Paharipura area here last month.

An official of the Paharipura police station said that one Amjad Khan of Charsadda had died in mysterious conditions in his house at Faisal Colony on June 16 and his wives – Rabia of Gulbahar and Tasneema of Akbarpura — had said in their statements that their husband died of a heart attack.

Later, the postmortem report showed that Mr Amjad died after taking poisonous drink, the police said.

After the deceased's brother Wajid Khan asked police for investigation they quizzed both of his widows and took them into custody after noting contradictions in their statements.

A police official said that the women had admitted to killing their husband in their initial statements. “Our husband was having affairs with girls and avoided giving attention to his family,” the official quoted the women as saying.— Bureau Report
