PESHAWAR, Nov 1: A special event was organized by the Iqra University, Peshawar, in order to pay homage to Allama Mohammad Iqbal’s poetry and political philosophy.

The Vice Chancellor of the Peshawar University, Prof (Dr) Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Gillani, was the chief guest.

The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the programme was attended by some of the renowned poets of Urdu and Pushto, namely, Prof Mohsin Ihsan, Dr Selma Shaheen, Bushra Farrukh, Yousaf Raza Chishti and Shamshad Nazli.

They paid homage to the Poet of the East in the most befitting manner and were applauded by the audience.

Students of the Iqra University also organized a bait bazi contest. Students from various colleges participated in the contest. The chief guest and the Project Director of the Iqra University, Obaidur Rehman, distributed certificates to the winners.

The students of the Iqra University made the event more colourful by presenting well-practised skits.

In the end, the chief guest was presented a shield by the project director of the Iqra University.

The chief guest praised the efforts of the management and congratulated the students for arranging a nice event. He also thanked the poets who showed their talent.
