KARACHI: Pakistan No 2 Imran Shehzad continued his winning spree when he blanked Farhan Khan 4-0 on the second day of the third NBP ranking snooker championship at Karachi Club on Thursday.

Punjab’s Imran, who was home 4-1 against Sindh junior champion Bilawal Agha on Wednesday, registered an authoritative 82-61, 68-38, 61-10, 73-63 victory over KP’s Farhan Khan in group ‘B.’ He meets Ayaz Khan in the last group match on Friday at 12noon.

Defending champion Asjad Iqbal fought rigourously to inflict 4-3 defeat on former national champion Khurram Agha in the fully stretched battle.

Asjad, who fell 3-4 to lowly ranked Imran Qamar the other day, won the match 70-38, 21-69, 41-63, 88-19, 16-71, 78-40, 63-54 to open his account in group ‘H.’

Umair Alam, a former Sindh champion, who stole the limelight with a solid break of 128 in the opener, suffered 3-4 defeat at the hands of former Sindh junior champion, Mohammad Ishtiaq. The latter won 67-61, 69-55, 54-67, 38-71, 38-55, 66-56, 64-24.

Former international Naveen Perwani also consolidated his position to qualify for the knockout by getting the better of Rashid Mehmood Abbasi 4-3. He got a walkover against Arshad Siddiq the other day.

The league matches concludes on Friday.
