KARACHI, July 10: A young man was gunned down by unidentified attackers in Firdous Colony late on Saturday, police said.

They said that the deceased later identified at the Edhi morgue as Amanullah Baloch, son of Ahmed Husain, was a resident of the Jehanabad area and in his mid-20s.

The body had been kept at the Edhi morgue following the legal formalities at the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), the police said.

An FIR (No. 101/2011) was registered against unidentified suspects under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at the Gulbahar police station.

Man gunned down in Orangi

A man was shot dead by unidentified armed men on Sunday near the Qatar Hospital within the remit of the Orangi Town police station, officials said.

The Orangi Town SHO said that 55-year-old Ghulam Mustafa was standing near the Qatar Turning when unidentified armed men riding a motorbike opened fire at him. He received several bullet wounds and was taken to the Qatar Hospital where he died, the police officer added.

Youth shot dead in Mauripur

A man was gunned down by armed men in the late hours of Saturday in Gulshan-i-Benazirabad within the remit of the Mauripur police station, officials said.

They said that 22-year-old Mohammad Umer was standing near Al-Jameel mosque when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at him.

The victim died on the spot while the attackers managed to escape from the scene.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family.

The police suspected that the killing was a result of some personal dispute.

The police registered an FIR (No. 275/2011) under Sections 302 and 34 (common intention) of the PPC against two suspects nominated by the victim’s brother.

Woman found shot dead

The bullet-riddled body of an unidentified woman was found on the Superhighway within the remit of the Sachal police station on Sunday, police said.

They said that the unidentified body was found near Gabol Goth on the Superhighway and taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The identity of the deceased who looked in her mid-30s could not be ascertained, the police added.

Girl drowns near Paradise Point

An eight-year-old girl drowned in the sea near the Paradise Point on Sunday.

Station officer of the Emergency and Rescue Centre (ERC) at Hawksbay said that Tehreem, daughter of Nadeem, had come to the beach with her family from the DHA area for a picnic.

She was washed away by the sea because of strong currents, said the officer in charge of the ERC, Mohammad Mairaj.

The girl was recovered from the sea near the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant and taken to the ERC for medical treatment but could not be revived, he added.

Later the body was handed over to her family following the legal formalities at the CHK.
