KHAIRPUR, July 9: The first rain of monsoon season, accompanied by heavy wind, lashed Khairpur city and other parts of the district early on Saturday morning.

Electricity supply was suspended with the first drop at about 2am and was restored at 9am. The supply remained erratic throughout the day.

Weather turned a bit pleasant but it could be harmful to date-palm orchards. The rain will benefit banana and other orchards of seasonal crops, said farmers.

The weather remained cloudy on Saturday.
