This short documentary is about the vehicle called ‘Kekra’, the rickety shuttle bus which is still a common mode of transportation in the Thar region of Pakistan.

Extremely amazing video! Thanks for sharing. Given its capacity and load capability, it is interesting to note that a Kekra only cost 1 million Pak Ruppees, where as a standard 5 seater car probably costs more than a million.

Good idea! Unfortunately bad scripting and incorrect technical information: 1) It is Bedford engine (A subsidiary of Vauxhall/GM) - not Bradford. In my opinion it is important to always look for perfect information as any presentation here or at any other medium is taken as a reference for Pakistan and any thing related to its history, culture etc.

I wonder that these old US origin trucks are still being used for transportation. Hats off to those Mechanics who maintain these machines.

These should be put on eBay at the very least. No telling what kind of money collectors will pay.

It is wonderful, ten years before when there was no roads around the thar, it was th main and only source of transportation, now the situation is changed and these kekras are rare...I myself have travelled in it a number of times
